Project #71: A synthetic biological glucose sensing and regulating system for blood glucose control

Project Description

Our goal is to engineer a system that can reprogram cells in the body to perform the function of a healthy pancreas. We aim to accomplish this by developing a synthetic protein that can detect high levels of blood glucose and when that happens, trigger the cells to produce a molecule that will activate insulin receptors throughout the body.
